Leonardo 4 Children – Concert in Brussels

With the patronage of the European Commission, the European Parliament, UNESCO Brussels, the Italian Embassy to Belgium, the Italian Permanent Representation to the EU and Tuscany region, the concert is one of the main events of the “Leonardo 4 Children” non-profit initiative. On the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci and the 30th anniversary of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child, “Leonardo 4 Children” initiative aims at supporting children in need through educational projects revolving around science and art as complementary disciplines.

The event on 26 September, where Fondazione CS MARE has the honour of being main sponsor, will follow the EU Education Summit taking place in Brussels the same day, and will feature keynote speeches, exhibition and award ceremony for the European winners of the “Leonardo 4 Children” competitions on the fables of Leonardo da Vinci, illustrated by 6-12 years old children, interpreted in music by young composers 18-30 years old, and on “Art & Science” combination by 13-18 years old teenagers.

The concert will include 10 selected fables of Leonardo da Vinci interpreted in classical music, based on the partitions of the young European composers who won the competition “Leonardo 4 Children”, which closes on 15th May 2019 and whose winners will be selected by end June 2019. The event would allow to raise funds in favour of children in need, in particular orphans, abandoned and refugees, to stimulate their creativity through art and science education.
